Where some people find relaxation and peace in activities such as quilting or scrapbooking, sports or hunting, my number one favorite hobby is traveling. I earned a BA in theater and found that job market to be bleak in terms of offering me the income I would need to support a lifestyle that includes at least one international trip a year. So, I returned to school and in May 2012, I'll have earned another degree in paralegal studies and someday I hope to work at an international embassy.
Locally, my favorite place to go is a small community in far northern Minnesota; Grand Marais, right on Lake Superior. The lake has some polarizing properties and there is just something peaceful about it. I also enjoyed living in Anchorage, AK, briefly, and I was able to visit the southern coast of Australia for a few weeks back in 2005. In high school I got my first taste of international flair by going to the Netherlands (outside of Gronigen) for a month as an exchange student in high school. And of course, there have been plenty of trips all around the U.S. (though I'm dying to see the southwest.)
I am the type of person who keeps my camping gear in my car year round (just in case) and I am always looking for another adventure. It is my life to see the world and its people in a greater understanding of my own place on this planet.
