Travel is my job because it is my passion! I was born and grew up in Uganda. My vast experiences in the travel industry of East Africa while working for tour operators nurtured my overwhelming love for nature. This inspired me to found Nature Trails East Africa which I strive to make the leading local tour operator offering authentic nature experiences in the region. At the core of our tours are experiences birdwatching, primate treks, and hiking.
I am a birding enthusiast and an active member of the birding community. I have close to 300 species on my species list, most of which come from water, grassland, and woodland habitats. I have embarked on exploring the massive rainforests through the Albertine region to enrich me with species from this habitat as well.
My greatest passion, however, is hiking and trekking by which I am able to access spectacular views of landscapes and breathtaking scenery, and to observe nature off the beaten track. My best hiking adventures so far have been in the awe-inspiring Virunga mountain ranges where I have been gifted with encountering the endangered Mountain Gorillas, striking golden monkeys and plenty of other rare plant and wild life. My dream is to hike the entire chain of the 8 volcanoes of the Virunga mountain range in one go!! Unfortunately no such trail exists at the moment. Next on my to-hike list includes the Rwenzoris and Kilimanjaro.
In a nutshell, I am all about travel and nature. If you wish to travel in East Africa, specifically Rwanda and Uganda, you may get in touch with me or Nature Trails East Africa (www.eastafricantrails.com) for assistance or even book one of tours!
