I have taught Spanish at College of the Redwoods in Northern California for more than 25 years. Although I have traveled independently to many areas of the world, my favorite destination is Mexico. Recently, I spent 6 months visiting 50 Spanish immersion schools in 14 cities in Mexico. I stayed with local families, attended classes, and met with teachers and administrators in each school. The time and energy I spent on this project has resulted in a book: Spanish- Live It and Learn It, The Complete Guide to Immersion Schools in Mexico (May 2006, Cypress House) This book evaluates and rates 48 schools. Readers can also learn about the immersion-school experience and find out how to get financial aid and college credit for their studies. Having made more than 40 trips to Mexico by car, bus, airline, small plane, and sailboat, I can answer many of the Mexico questions from forum participants. My other travels have included Central America, the Caribbean, South America, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Cook Islands, New Zealand, Europe (Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Switzerland, British Isles, etc.), and of course US and Canada. I'm a great fan of Lonely Planet guidebooks and always recommend them.
