I left a soul-numbing career (accounting) about 14 years ago, and spent about five years teaching and travelling: first in south-central Mexico; then in Korea, Laos, and Thailand. I was - and am - transformed and energised by a lifestyle of travel! I learned back then that consumerism / materialism only ends in tears. Still, the "responsible" and "mature" northerner in me started in: I came back to Canada to 'settle down', to 'be responsible', and to 'save for the future'.
Back in Canada for eight years now. Gawd, what a mistake! The education is done; accounting within the corporate environment is numbing me out again; and 'saving for the future' seems like a cruel joke in the last few years.
It's almost time to get the he** out of here again, once and for all time! I'm back here on the LP website to be inspired by the spirit of fellow wanderers, and to be informed by their current and useful practical knowledge.
Laos; northern and western Thailand; east Asia for work.
