David Atkinson is an award-winning British travel writer with particular experience of working in Japan, Europe and Latin America.
In seven years as a full-time travel writer, David reckons he's clocked up his fair share of travel tales: from perfecting a mean Elvis karaoke medley in Japan, through dining on urine-fermented shark meat in Iceland, to exploring things that go bump in the night in Romania.
Most recently he spent an extended period both living and working in La Paz, Bolivia, where he retraced the final fated footsteps of Che Guevara and ended up co-presenting a community radio show (in Spanish) with Bolivia's leading troupe of drag queens, La Familia Galan.
He is a member of the British Guild of Travel Writers and a contributor to BBC radio travel programmes. His stories appear in publications such as the Weekend Financial Times, The Telegraph, BBC News Online and get lost! Magazine.
When not travelling, he is based in North London from where he enjoys a decent pint of Guinness, Japanese food and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But not necessarily in that order.
Top Travel Tip: Lip balm and my iPod. Never leave home without them.
