I currently live in Sydney, Australia and I grew up in Minnesota in the USA. I also lived for a short time in Caen, France, in Christchurch, New Zealand, and in several states in the middle and eastern parts of the USA.
Through study, work, and/or general travel, I have been to: Andorra, Australia, Austria, Canada, England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Rwanda, Switzerland, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Ukraine, and the USA. Obviously, I had longer, more extensive travels in some countries than in others. I'm not an expert on any, but I'm happy to share my experiences.
My favourite experiences are generally my interactions with local people and learning more about different cultures. I like to see the sights, but really enjoy getting outside the major destinations. I generally prefer to see and experience the natural environment and native animals in their native habitat rather than visit museums. I try to learn and respect the cultures and beliefs of local / native peoples (I have been to Uluru. I have not and will not climb).
I have used LP guides and the Thorn Tree quite a bit for research, but I am new to being an active member. Apologies if I do something incorrect. Please send me a message if I do something incorrect.
Next trip: Ecuador and Peru - November / December 2012.
Top 3 countries so far: Rwanda, Ukraine, and Norway.
