Hans Christian Andersen (April 2, 1805–August 4, 1875) <BR> <BR>Hans Christian Andersen is one of the immortals of world literature. The fairy tales he wrote are like no others written before or since. <BR> <BR>Hans Christian Andersen was an ardent tourist and lived nearly 15 years in other countries in a time when travelling was inconvenient and slow. As he wrote in his memoirs "To Travel is to Live !". He travelled very frequently and covered great distances, something people usually didn't do at that time. He forged close friendships with great personalities such as Charles Dickens and Franz Liszt.
