° I am a 64 years old, Physics Professor and Engineer (taught at the National University of Asuncion). American and Spaniard citizen.
°° On September 2011 shipped my car (a 2008 Dodge Avenger) to Lima. From there, drove to Paraguay, going through the mountains of Peru (Huancayo, Ayacucho, Cuzco, Puno [and the floating islands on the Titicaca lake]), and visiting a lot of Inca ruins, including -of course- Macchu Pichu. Then crossed to Bolivia (stayed a week in Copacabana, visited Isla del Sol, and 3 weeks in Sucre). Finally Camiri, and an eventulful Chaco arrival (Paraguay). After visiting and saying "hi" at the university (UNA) continued to the shoreline of Brazil (Parana and Sta. Catarina), and two months later returned to Asunción, for the start of classes in February 2012.
°°° Taught Physics the full school year (ends in December) and returned to the USA, driving again. I crossed Argentina, and moved to Chile (spent New Years Eve in Iquique). Traversed Peru again, this time from South to North along the coast (Arequipa, Ica, Lima, Chimbote, ..). In Ecuador stayed almost a month in Guayaquil, from there along the coastline to Montañita, Bahia, Canoa, Peñas, ....). Adventurous travel in Colombia, again from South to North. After a month in Cartagena, and 2 weeks near the border with Venezuela (Riohacha) shipped the car to Panama, and I moved to Central America via speed boat.
I did enjoy a total of 11 months on the road, and at the wheel of my Dodge. The car performed great, despite of rough roads in many areas of those countries. From Panama to Costa Rica, then Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Belize and Mexico.
Stayed for six weeks in Cancún, until I decided to continue driving around the Gulf, passing through Puebla, Tampico, Matamoros, ... then Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, ... and back in Florida. I arrived in mid June 2013, and now live in Stuart, Martin County, FL.
Many, have been a frequent flyer!
